LMP1 team ByKolles Racing has completed its three-days test at circuito de Almeria, 18th to 20th of December 2017.
The Almeria-test was the last outing of 2017 as well as the final touch to a development started in after the race at Nürburgring with the decision of skipping from the final 2017 WEC rounds in favour of a solid preparation of the 2018-19 WEC superseason.
In addition to regular ByKolles Racing driver Oliver Webb and Tom Dillmann (already testing with ByKolles in September and at Motorland in Aragon in November) , the drivers’ line-up for Almeria has included long-time ByKolles Racing pilot Pierre Kaffer, FIA GT vice world champion Paolo Ruberti and young Chinese GT-star Ling Kang for his debut on an LMP prototype.
A strong run-plan, with a total mileage equal to three race events, allows team ByKolles Racing to be very confident in terms of reliability. On the performance side, new developments on aero set-ups and engine-mappings were succesfully implemented.
Now the focus switches on to the next tests in February 2018 where a new aero package will be introduced.

As hard a time as ByKolles get, they’re still here and the car is still getting updates. You get the distinct impression that the chassis itself isn’t getting much of a redesign, but everything that hangs off of it is. At a glance, the new car appears to have –
[su_list icon=”icon: angle-double-right” icon_color=”#3498db”]
- Slight nose reprofile
- Improved inboard aero
- Removed inboard winglets (although this may be a low drag kit)
- New dive planes
- Squared off front arches
- Mirrors moulded into the bodywork
- Remove intake from in front of the windscreen
- Rear arches holes moved inboard
- New headlights

There is no mention of the customer cars that ByKolles hoped to offer, so we’re assuming that’s off the table for the moment.
