Audi R8 LMS GT4 goes on sale

In April, Audi Sport customer racing presented the Audi R8 LMS GT4 as its third model range for customer sport. The GT4 sports car delivering up to 364 kW (495 hp) can now be ordered. The company offers the race car at a price of 198,000 euros (excluding VAT). Deliveries are planned to begin in December.

GT4 is the next big thing. With GT3 cars following the GTE pricing structure of being €500k+, a cheaper option is needed should the GT3 bubble burst. GT4 is being positioned as that replacement, as well as doubling as a stepping stone for amateur drivers.

The Audi R8 LMS GT4 is not cheap, coming in just below €200k, but it is slightly more affordable. It joins a large list of homologated GT4 cars, including Aston Martins, BMWs and Porsches. Expect to see this car in Germany first, especially at VLN rounds. It’s likely that one or two may make an appearance in Dubai for the 24 Hour, and even the British GT4 class in 2018.

With over 200 R8 LMS GT3s, and over 100 RS3 LMS TCR cars now in the wild, the R8 GT4 might become the most popular GT4 car so far.
