Risi Competizione has confirmed a 2 car entry into this months Rolex 24 at Daytona. The IMSA regulars will run in both the GTLM and GTD classes for the big event.

The #62 Ferrari 488 GTLM will compete in the GTLM Class with Vilander, Calado and Pier Guidi set to pilot the car. For the Roar Before the 24 test days, only Pier Guidi will be available.

Calado and Pier Guide are the current WEC GT Drivers champions, whilst Toni Vilander was the winner of the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hours in a Ferrari 488 GT3.

The #82 Ferrari 488 GT3 will run in the GTD Daytona class. The driver line up consists of Miguel Molina, Martin Fuentes, Santiago Creel and Ricardo Perez de Lara.

It will be the first Rolex 24 for Miguel Molina. The newly appointed Ferrari factory GT driver joins three Mexicans in the GTD entry.

Martin Fuentes has raced with Scuderia Corse in the the Trofeo Pirelli North American series, and the Pirelli World Challenge GTA class. Ricardo Perez de Lara last competed in the Rolex 24 in 2016 and has Ferrari experience in the Ferrari Challenge.

Santiago Creel has spent the last seven years racing Porsches in Mexico, the US and most recently the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

The move finally confirms the plans Risi has for the Rolex 24 after months of speculation. Rumours of the team’s struggles after a difficult 2017 painted an uncertain future for the outfit.

It’s good to have confirmation of Risi committing to an event, even if it’s just the Rolex 24 for now. Risi field the only Ferrari in the GTLM class, giving us the added variety we all love in GT racing.

Unfortunately we are still waiting to confirm any future plans for the team.
