Sebastian Vettel was fastest at Barcelona today and painted Circuit de Catalunya “Red Bull” after leading a trio of Scuderia Toro Rosso cars at the head of the time-sheets. The German was the only man to dip into the 1m19 bracket and led yesterday's pace setter, Takuma Sato by nearly three tenths of a second.

Behind Sato it the battle of the Sebs commenced as “French Seb” shaded “Swiss Seb” by nearly two tenths as he begun his bid to hold on to his Toro Rosso drive for next season.

Takuma Sato set the pace on his return to the F1 testing scene at Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona today, the Japanese had his second try out for the Scuderia Toro Rosso team as he bids to secure a spot with the team for 2009.

On a day that 17 drivers in total took to the track (with only the Toyota team absent) GP2 Series hot Shot, Sebastien Buemi completed a dominant day for Toro Rosso and finished 2nd on the timing sheets behind Sato.

Pastor Maldonado will join forces with the ART Grand Prix team for the 2009 GP2 Series. The Venezuelan who will also contest the GP2 Asia series for the French, team finished fifth overall in the 2008 series with the Piquet Sports team.
