Photographs Taken: May 1994

These photos were taken in the summer of '94 after a Trans Am race and are notable as the circuit is close to what it was like in the 70's to the 80's when there were a number of international races.  Looking at some old books there was virtually no guardrail installed until the early '70's.

Of note here is some of the renovations that took place in the late '80's. For example, the increased runoff at turn one, (the guardrail on the outside used to be right next to the track) and the (slightly) increased area at the bottom of turn two with a tire wall. I think this was done as a result of Manfred Winckelhock's fatal accident here in '85. You can also see that the track had been repaved in some areas and also repaired where the new pavement was wearing away, this is most visable at turn five.

Also to be seen is the old style curbing, installed in the early '70's (now mostly all removed and up to FIA specs), the old pit stalls (now gone), the grandstands on the front and back straights (now gone) and the bridge at turn four (now gone, replaced with a new bridge closer to the top of the turn) and if you look carefully at the turn ten pic the plaque dedicated to Ron and Eve White can be seen in the grass to the driver's right. This was dedicated to them as they were early Mosport supporters who were killed in a plane crash also in the early '70's.
